Questions and Answers About The DBCC

Q: Why should I / we join this Club?

A: We are the only computer Club in the area that holds daytime classes targeted to seniors with varying levels of computer expertise most Fridays throughout the year. Other Clubs meet during the evening hours, usually once or twice a month at most. This makes it especially difficult on those who have vision and hearing problems and physical disabilities.

Q. How much does it cost to attend a class?

Unless otherwise announced, the class entry fee is $1.00 per person. This fee is waived for Board members and volunteers.

A. Can a guest attend more than one class?

No. After a guest has attended one class, membership is required.

Q. How much does it cost to join? To renew?

A. The membership rates are.

New Memberships:

Individual $30/Year
Family     $40/Year

Renewals:
Individual $25/Year
Family     $35/Year

Q. What special benefits do members receive?

A. Members may participate as instructors or students, receive special individual and/or group discounts from our advertisers and guest speakers, and attend special member activities. They receive free telephone technical support and in-home tech support at competitive rates.

Q. Do I need a computer to join the Club?

A. No, but I strongly recommend it as the best way for you to practice what you have learned in the comfort and privacy of your own home on your own schedule.

Q. Will class topics be above my level?

A. We structure our class topics for novices, since that is what most of our members are, but we venture into intermediate and advanced subject matter.

The objective of the new Basics Training Series is to meet the wide range of needs of those who know too much to those you know very little or nothing at all. As a person gains more knowledge each week, what was difficult at the beginning will become easier over time. Remember that everyone started as a tortoise at some point and over the years they have equaled and surpassed the hares. Be patient. Take good notes. Feel free to record the classes. We also have free tutorials on our Club web site and in our newsletters. Fellow members will also reach out and help you. Members will tell you that there really are no strangers in our Club-only friends that you have yet to meet. We treat and respect everyone as a family member.

Q. How are my annual dues spent?

A. We use your money to pay for newsletter printing, wireless Internet service, supplies, purchase and repair of equipment and parts, special software purchases, Club activities, and expenses for official business. Our proposed budget for each fiscal year is published on the Club site.
